Apulia is a central region in the mediterranean area, always crossed by any kind of populations, this made the area very rich in history and archeological heritage.
Many are the places that testify this long passage, the remains of them can be easily visited within a short time of transfer in many archeological sites and museums. One of the most interesting museums in the nearby is the National Museum of Archeology of Taranto, just 45 km far away from Alberobello.
Despite of its recent born, Alberobello witnesses the unique mark of the so called "peasant civilization", a rural way of living with cultural characteristics with roots lost in the past. The town has been recognized as World Heritage by UNESCO since 1996.
